More Birthday Shenanigans

With my last post I wasn’t able to finish writing everything I did for my birthday. Although, technically these events were no longer on the day of my birth, they were still a part of the celebration.

The day after, and after I finished work, we went to my grandma’s house to have some ropa vieja (one of my favorite foods). For the cake she got me the usual ice cream cake. Every year for my birthday and my cousin’s birthday, she gets ice cream cake, and we (the birthday people) get to cut the pieces.

The 18 didn’t fully fit on the cake.

The day after this, my parents took me to something super awesome!

A grainy photo of us waiting for the show to start. XD

For a while I have heard that The Lion King was a wonderful musical. Finally, I was able to see it! It really was a spectacular thing to see, and I’d suggest it to anyone. The costumes are what really did it for me. I unfortunately don’t have pictures of anything related to it… but I do have another picture with my mom.

My selfie loving mom.

I wasn’t able to take a picture of my outfit here because it was crowded. My dad helped me take some around our home later that day.

image
Don’t worry, the train tracks aren’t in use.

I’m still working on being less shy in front of the camera.

image

Yep… still working on it.

I’d also like to take this time to talk about body positivity. As you can see from my pictures, I have a bit of a tummy, yet I’m wearing a form fitting dress. There are many girls that are skinnier than me that wouldn’t dare to wear such a thing because they believe they are “too fat”. There are also many bigger women that wouldn’t wear such a thing for the same reason. Everyone is beautiful, and even if someone rudely points out your tummy, show off your body proudly and ignore them. It’ll give you more confidence and it will lessen the negative feedback. Also, if you are trying to lose weight for any reason, whether it be for health or for looks, make sure it’s for you, not someone else. If you are criticized for not loving your body because of this, just remember that you do love it, and that’s why you’re willing to do what you believe is better for it. I’m currently trying to lose weight because I’m not exactly at a healthy weight for me height, but that doesn’t mean I love myself any less. I’m still wearing this dress, aren’t I?

Now we’re at the end of my birthday adventure. I hope you enjoyed reading about it, and get something out of my little body image rant. I will also start writing the components of my outfits in all of my posts after this, so if anyone is wondering about my outfit here just ask in the comments. Have a great day little corvids!

My Birthday

As usual, life and migraines (I’ve had chronic migraines since I was about three) have gotten in the way of my posting. Nevertheless, I am trying to make time. As I wrote in an Instagram post I would like to do an entry here on my birthday and how it went. I turned 18 on October 14th, but I honestly don’t really feel 18…

I made this on my phone. 🙂

Every year I get very excited to go somewhere with my parents. This year, for dinner, we went to Korean barbecue restaurant called Mr. BBQ (how fitting).

image
It looks like the light chopped off a part of my leg…

All of the food was really good! I think we took great advantage of the buffet style service they have. We were all really hungry so we must have all had three plates of food…

image
Here’s what the table looked like.

Also, if you didn’t notice that sign in the picture before this, you get a free dinner with proof of your birthday! My food was free! (That’s the best kind of food.)

image
It says “Tuttibird Shucka”.

My dad gave me this card for my birthday. I know the name seems weird, but my parents have always had very odd nicknames for me. 🙂

image

And this is the card opened! My parents normally get me Peanuts themed cards every year because that was something we would watch every holiday as a child. We still watch them sometimes.

image
I’m still working on smiling normally in my pictures…

Even though my parents are divorced, they still take me out every year for my birthday as a family. They know it makes me happy, and I appreciate very much that they continue to do this. Not many parents will be comfortable doing so… So thanks, Mommy and Daddy, for giving me this present every year!

These are from a cute Hispanic café near us.

We obviously couldn’t forget a cake on such an occasion! We had these dulce de leche and tres leches flavored cakes (the Hispanic heritage within me will always love these).

image
My dad got this picture right as the candle was blown out. I don’t think it shows up though.

Luckily, the café also sold candles so I was able to make my little birthday wish!

This post is getting kind of long, so I will post the other days’ events later on. I hope everyone else with a recent birthday had a great time!

Little Witch

Hello! This is the first post I’ve probably done where it was almost up to date (I took these pictures yesterday).

Moving on… Yesterday my dad and I went to a figure drawing class, which we try to attend every Sunday. Since it was cold out I decided to wear some long socks with a skirt (one of the things I love to wear in fall). I ended up kind of looking like a little witch, but that’s okay because I’m already excited about Halloween and I like witches.

image
Striped socks and leggings were something I wore a lot in middle school. I should get some more…

[read more=”read more” less=”read less”]

As usual, I’m wearing my trademark bow. This time it’s purple to match my shirt and socks. The shoes I’m wearing belonged to my mom and she’s had them for around 20 years. Their only flaw is just some scuffs in the front! This is why Doc Martens are one of my favorites.

image
I really need to work on my posing. I look so bored.

I don’t know if it’s noticeable, but I also tried out some makeup again. This would be my fourth try and my second time wearing it in public. I like the subtle look so I just smoked out some purple on the edges of my eyes, put on some pale purple blush, and used a lipstick by Stila in the color Brulee.

image
I think I pose better when caught off guard. My dad took a picture when I was looking at a dog. XD

Too bad I’m not standing up in any of these… The skirt is around knee length and drapes so nicely with little bows tied on the sides (if you haven’t noticed, bows are “my thing”).

That’s about it for this post. We drew from around 3-6:30 and then took a walk in the park nearby. I would post my art on here but since they’re mainly nudes and not fashion related, I decided against it.

Have a sweet day!

Unexpected Walk in the Park

Hello little corvids! This is my most recent “adventure” while looking around for things to do on a weekend. Needing some wire for jewelry, my dad and I set off to find a craft store that would be open on a Sunday (blue laws…). On the way there we spotted a pretty looking park that we hadn’t been to before. Always in the mood for a walk, we decided to check it out and it was beautiful! Once I saw some nice bridges and water I knew I had to take some pictures there. I also knew that I lack content on here (I’m such an inconsistent blogger) so here was my attire for the day.

image
Despite my modeling face attempt, I had fun at the park. ^^

I thank my dad for taking these pictures.

I also recently got a pair of circular sunglasses. Woah…

There was also a super cute, curly-haired dog barking at everyone who passed by. Sadly, I didn’t take a picture because I thought it may make him more nervous.

I apologize for how short this is. I’m continuing to experiment with how Is like to set up this blog and my posts. I hope you all have a wonderful day!
